on The Brink of Growth

The project is set to include revamped infrastructure, ample parking and pedestrian routes, boutique-style
shopping, new venues for dining and entertainment, and lively parks and green spaces. The Front Street Lofts of Lemont is at the beginning of it all. Take a look at the three-part plan for downtown Lemont, and find out why you should get in today.

Three Distinct Districts

Once completed, the revitalization project will combine the unique benefits
and personalities of Lemont’s three main areas.

  • General Fry’s Landing
Named after the first boat to travel the I & M Canal in 1848, General Fry’s Landing will include the Front Street Lofts of Lemont and Canal Walk Park. The lofts, completed in 2009, will soon be neighbored by Canal Walk Park, a linear stretch of green space, landscaping, and bike paths along the I & M Canal.
  • The Historic District
This district will focus on preserving the vintage beauty of Lemont while bringing in new businesses and opportunities. Innovative new buildings will be designed to complement the antique brick and limestone architecture for which the area is known. Easy parking and pedestrian-friendly walkways will pull everything—and everyone—together.
  • The Transit District
Taking full advantage of the Lemont Metra station, the Transit District will use new parking structures and pedestrian walkways to give residents more flexibility and an easy commute to the Chicago Loop, the area’s outdoor attractions, and other transportation hubs.
